Marathi actors who made their mark in other languages

Subodh Bhave

Subhod Bhave: Hindi actors have always transcended the boundaries of language, but Marathi actors have been more or less complacent with work in Marathi. Among a few Marathi actors who have made their presence felt in other regional languages also is Subhod Bhave who recently gave a memorable performance in Malayalam film Pinneyum. The film released last month and was the talk of the town as it was directed by the veteran award winning director/ writer Adoor Gopalkrishna. Subhod delivered the dialogues with panache of his own and critics was all praise for this actor. Sighting him in BalGandharva, Subhod was cast in the film solely for his exemplary performances in Marathi films.

Atul Kulkarni

Atul Kulkarni: He has acted in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films! His talent is not restricted to Marathi films or theatre only. He is equally powerful with his roles in South Indian languages like Telugu, Kannad and Malayalam. In Hindi, he is a popular power.

Nitish Bharadwaj

Nitish Bharadwaj: This charming SriKrishna of classical TV Series Mahabharath is unforgettable . There was a time when he was adored as the Lord himself by his fans. Nitish Bharadwaj is popular among Malayalam fans as the actor in Njan Gandharvan in which he played a celestial being. He has also made his presence felt in Hindi movies like Sangeet (1992), Prem Daan, Prem Shakti (1994). In 2016, he made a significant role in the Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Mohenjo Daro.

Sayaji Shinde

Sayaji Shinde: He is one of the popular villains of Marathi and Hindi cinema. Sayaji Shende has played commendable roles in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannad Films. In Sarkar Raj(2008) , he played Karunesh Kanga and In Ugly Aur Pagli (2008), he was the hotel manager. He has been active in Tamil films since 2000. In Kannada, he has been active since 2011. This veteran actor has also made his presence felt in overseas like “The Whispers”.

Swapnil Joshi: It is difficult to tell whether Nitish Bharadwaj or Swapnil Joshi is the most popular Krishna of Indian Television. Swapnil Joshi has acted in Ramanand Sagar’s SriKrishna series in which he played the part of the adolescent Krishna having raas leela with Radha and later sets out to kill his uncle Kamsa.
