Raja Shivaji Box Office Day 2: Riteish Deshmukh’s Epic Shatters All-Time Records

Riteish Deshmukh and his powerhouse ensemble, including Abhishek Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, have officially rewritten the record books for Marathi cinema. The historical drama Raja Shivaji has not only delivered a historic opening but has also achieved a feat never seen before in the industry. Within just two days, the film has surpassed the first-week collections of every Marathi blockbuster in history.

According to early trends, the film maintained incredible momentum on its second day, Sunday, May 3, 2026. Despite a minor drop from its record-breaking opening, the movie collected an estimated 9 to 10 crore across its Marathi and Hindi versions. This brings its two-day domestic total to a staggering 21.40 – 22.40 crore net, placing it miles ahead of any previous competitor in the regional market.

The film has now comfortably overtaken the lifetime earnings of major 2026 releases like Aga Aga Sunbai! Kay Mhantay Sasubai? and is rapidly closing in on the top spot for the year. It currently sits just behind Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam, which holds a total of 28 crore, a milestone Raja Shivaji is expected to cross by tomorrow.

The most significant achievement, however, is the film’s dominance over historical “first-week” rankings. In just 48 hours, the Salman Khan-starrer has collected more than what legendary hits like Baipan Bhari Deva and Navra Maza Navsacha 2 earned in their entire first seven days. This massive surge confirms the film as a cultural phenomenon that is attracting audiences far beyond the traditional Marathi-speaking belt.

As the film moves into its first weekday, the trade outlook remains exceptionally positive. With double-digit scores on both days of the opening weekend, Raja Shivaji is on track to set a lifetime record that will be difficult to challenge. The combination of high-octane action and historical reverence has clearly hit the right note with Indian moviegoers.
