Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Bandkhor’ Trailer Launched; September 24 Release Set

The official trailer for Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming Marathi film Bandkhor (also referenced as Rebel) has been unveiled at a high-profile launch event attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar and cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar. Produced by Sanjay Shetye’s Vinson Graphic Production and presented by Sathya Sai Films, the movie hits theaters on September 24.

Core Plot & Cast

The Narrative: The film follows six women from diverse backgrounds brought together by shared adversity. Moving past societal expectations, they unite to revolt against systemic injustice and take control of their own destinies.

Ensemble Cast: The lead roles are portrayed by Chhaya Kadam, Priyadarshini Indalkar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Pooja Katurde, Titiksha Tawde, and Nitishree Gnanalakshmi.

Writing & Direction: Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the film’s dialogues are penned by Siddharth Salvi and Irawati Karnik.

Reframing “Rebellion”: Director Mahesh Manjrekar noted that while the word “rebel” often carries a negative connotation, his film redefines it as a woman standing up for her rights and existence. He shared that the idea was inspired by his eldest daughter and the influential women in his life.

Dignitaries’ Remarks: Sunetra Ajit Pawar praised the film’s message, invoking the legacy of social reformer Savitribai Phule and expressing confidence that the story will empower women to fight injustice. Sunil Gavaskar paid tribute to his mother and wife, sharing how his mother’s early support laid the foundation for his cricket career.
