VFX Takes Center Stage as MIDCCA Ushers in a New Era for Marathi Filmmaking

On September 14, 2025, the Amphitheatre at Fergusson College, Pune, will host a full-day summit titled “Reimagining the Future: VFX in the World of Marathi Filmmaking.” This event, organised by the Maharashtra Immersive Digital Content Creators Association (MIDCCA) in partnership with Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal and co-hosted by the MRB Foundation, aims to explore the transformative role of visual effects in regional cinema and bring together creative professionals from across the Marathi film industry.
MIDCCA, a registered Section 8 company, is a collaborative platform dedicated to advancing the AVGC-XR sectors in Maharashtra. Focused on empowering digital creators through advocacy, education, industry collaboration, and talent incubation, MIDCCA strives to position Maharashtra as a global hub for immersive media innovation.The summit is designed to inspire Marathi filmmakers, producers, and creatives by demonstrating how cost-effective, high-quality VFX can elevate regional cinema, digital content, and series to meet global standards. With the rising accessibility of technology, the event underscores that VFX is no longer confined to big-budget projects but has become an essential storytelling tool enhancing narrative depth and visual impact across formats.
Attendees can look forward to insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing from directors, cinematographers, editors, and leading VFX studios. The event will also foster collaboration and establish long-term partnerships to strengthen the Marathi film ecosystem.The day will open with a lamp lighting ceremony by MIDCCA leaders and special dignitaries, featuring Uday Samant, Maharashtra’s Minister of Industries & Marathi Language, as chief guest, and popular actor Swapnil Joshi as special guest. The welcoming address will be delivered by MIDCCA president and philmCGI co-founder Anand Bhanushali. MIDCCA vice president Milind D. Shinde (88 Pictures) and secretary Santosh Raskar (Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute RC member & Srajan College founder) will share MIDCCA’s vision for regional creators.
Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal president Meghraj Raje Bhosale will also address the gathering.The summit’s opening session, “Behind the Scenes: Cost-effective VFX in Marathi Films & Series,” will showcase case studies from acclaimed projects. Vidit Kundra and Chetan Tahashildar of Assemblage Entertainment will present insights from Chhaava. Vivek Jamble of SM Rolling FX will share the VFX journey of Ved, and Yogesh Chhag, business head at NY VFXWaala, will discuss the making of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. This session promises an in-depth look at how Marathi cinema is harnessing affordable VFX to produce compelling visuals.
