Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ Nears Budget Recovery; 12th Day Earnings Revealed

The historical epic Raja Shivaji, directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, continues its strong run at the box office as it nears a major financial milestone. Based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film was released on May 1 and has maintained steady momentum throughout its second week.
Box Office Performance and 12th Day Collection
According to industry reports, the film earned Rs 2.50 crore on its twelfth day (the second Tuesday). This brings the total domestic collection to Rs 73.15 crore. With a total production budget estimated at Rs 75 crore, the film is now just Rs 2 crore away from fully recovering its costs, a feat expected to be achieved by Wednesday.

- First Week: Rs 52.65 crore
- Day 8: Rs 3.20 crore
- Day 9: Rs 5.60 crore
- Day 10: Rs 6.80 crore
- Day 11: Rs 2.40 crore

A Star-Studded Historical Spectacle
The film features an expansive ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Genelia D’Souza, Sachin Khedekar, Fardeen Khan, and Boman Irani, with a special guest appearance by Salman Khan.
To capture the authenticity of the era, the film was shot across multiple locations in Maharashtra, including Satara, Pune, Nashik, Mahabaleshwar, and Mumbai.
A Decade-Long Passion Project
Raja Shivaji is considered the most ambitious project of Riteish Deshmukh’s career, representing ten years of preparation. While directors Ravi Jadhav and Nagraj Manjule were originally linked to the project, Deshmukh eventually took over the directorial reins himself to bring his vision to the screen.
