Raja Shivaji Box Office: Riteish Deshmukh Secures Fourth Consecutive Marathi Hit

Thirteen days after its theatrical release, Riteish Deshmukh’s historical epic, Raja Shivaji, is achieving remarkable success at the box office. The film, which portrays the heroic life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has officially crossed its production budget of ₹75 crore. By earning ₹75.05 crore so far, the movie has transitioned into the profit zone, marking a major milestone for Marathi cinema.

The film opened strongly on May 1 with a collection of ₹11.35 crore. Although the momentum slowed slightly during the second week, it maintained steady numbers, earning ₹1.90 crore on its second Wednesday. Industry experts are now watching closely to see if it can eventually challenge the record-breaking success of the legendary Marathi hit, Sairat.

This success marks a record-breaking streak for Riteish Deshmukh, as Raja Shivaji is his fourth consecutive hit in the Marathi film industry. This follows his previous successful ventures like Lai Bhaari, Mauli, and Ved. This project also highlights his growth as a filmmaker, serving as his second directorial effort after the 2022 blockbuster Ved.

One of the biggest draws for the audience has been the film’s massive scale and star-studded cast. The movie features an ensemble of powerhouse actors, including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vidya Balan. A major highlight is Salman Khan’s special appearance as Jiva Mahal. Additionally, Riteish and Genelia’s sons, Riaan and Rahyl, play the younger versions of Shivaji Maharaj.

Produced by Genelia Deshmukh and Jyoti Deshpande, Raja Shivaji has successfully blended historical pride with commercial appeal. As it continues its theatrical run, the film reinforces Riteish Deshmukh’s position as a leading force in Marathi cinema, proving that high-quality regional content can compete on a grand scale.
