Mahesh Manjrekar Speaks Out on Manache Shlok Name Change Controversy and Stands Firm on Creative Integrity

Actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar has given a clear response regarding the decision to change the name of the film Manache Shlok to Tu Bol Na. He said that many actors came forward to support during the controversy, but the decision to change the name was made within an hour.Manjrekar stated, “This kind of thing happens with all films; even in Hindi cinema, people’s sentiments get hurt.
The same happened with Manache Shlok. But when the controversy started, many Marathi actors came forward in support. However, they decided to change the name within an hour.”Speaking about his own film Shikshanacha Aycha Gho, Manjrekar said, “I stood firm till the end and said I will not change the name. Because changing the name gives people the impression that we are yielding to pressure, and that encourages them to demand name changes again.
The name Shikshanacha Aycha Gho was a critique of the education system; it was not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.”He further added, “If you have chosen a name, then don’t change it within an hour. Once the censor board has approved it, no one should have to speak against it. But you also have to stand firm!”Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming film Punha Shivajiraje Bhosale is set to release on October 31.
Actor Siddharth Bodke will portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film. During this time, Manjrekar expressed his views on the controversy surrounding the name change of Manache Shlok.
