How Will People Come?” Singer Questions Multiple Marathi Films Releasing on the Same Day; Says, “There Is No Coordination
September has turned out to be a festive month for the Marathi film industry, with several diverse Marathi movies releasing, including Dashavatar, Arapar, Bin Lagnachi Goshta, Kurla to Vengurla, Atali Batmi Futli, and Sabar Bond. However, criticism has arisen against producers for releasing more than two Marathi films on the same day, which has led to the audience being divided. Many have expressed their frustration about this on social media. Now, popular Marathi singer Mangesh Borgaonkar has also shared his views on the matter.After watching the film Arapar starring Lalit Prabhakar and Rutuja Durgule, Mangesh shared a video on his Instagram story saying, “I recently watched Arapar and realized that nearly four to five Marathi films have been released in just one week.
Tell me, how is this possible? The situation is already bad, and on top of that, people in the industry don’t coordinate with each other.”He further added, “When so many films release at the same time, no one gets the proper time or attention. We also have Bollywood and other industry films. If you release five or six Marathi films simultaneously, how will the audience come? We don’t have the capacity for all the films to be watched by everyone. If there was some coordination, everyone would get a chance. But that’s not happening… Even regular viewers are noticing this, but no one in the industry seems to understand.” He also asked the audience in his post, “As a viewer, what do you think?”
Meanwhile, speaking about the box office collections of Marathi films released in September, Dashavatar, which released on September 12, has earned the highest this month. According to a report by Sacnilk, Dashavatar has grossed nearly ₹18 crore. Arapar and Bin Lagnachi Goshta have also earned over ₹1 crore each. The films released on September 19—Sabar Bond, Aranya, Atali Batmi Futli, and Kurla to Vengurla—have earnings still in the lakhs range.
