Despite a ₹48,000 Monthly Loan EMI, He Left ‘Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra’; Anshuman Vichare Reveals the Real Reason

When Anshuman Vichare quit the popular comedy show Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra, it came as a massive shock to the audience. He had taken this drastic decision during the lockdown. Now, in a recent interview, Anshuman has opened up about the real reason behind his departure.

The show Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra has been thoroughly entertaining audiences for several years, making many of its performing artists household names. Among them was actor Anshuman Vichare, who won countless hearts with his flawless comic timing. However, his decision to leave the show during the lockdown left fans devastated.

The Dilemma: Family vs. The Bio-Bubble

In a recent interview, Anshuman detailed the circumstances that led to his exit:

“Before the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, my career was going great and I was earning well. Riding on that financial stability, I bought a new house in Pune. But immediately after that, the lockdown was announced. During that period, the team of Hasya Jatra decided to continue shooting under a strict ‘bio-bubble’ protocol.”

“At that time, my daughter was just one-and-a-half years old. I wasn’t ready to leave her and my family behind to stay and shoot in a bio-bubble for days on end. Besides, a sense of monotony had crept into the work. I had started fearing that my expiry date as an artist was drawing near. That is why I decided to take a break,” Anshuman clarified.

Emotional Financial Struggles and Family Support

Speaking about the emotional weight of his decision, Anshuman added:

“I had a monthly EMI of ₹48,000 for the new house hanging over my head. When I asked my wife what we would do next and how we would manage, she told me, ‘If you don’t want to work there, it’s absolutely fine. We will manage the house EMIs somehow. If things get tight, we will survive on simple rice-curry (amti-bhat) or khichdi, but don’t lose heart.’ It was only because of her unwavering support that I could spend that crucial time with my daughter.”

Anshuman’s decision to quit Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra was highly calculated. He proved that true personal growth happens only when one steps out of their comfort zone. Breaking away from television, the actor is currently seen on the silver screen in the newly released movie, Tumbadchi Manjula.
