Sanand Trust president Jayant Bhise and honorary secretary Sanjeev Wavikar highlighted the life and legacy of music composer Sudhir Phadke, fondly known as “Babuji.” They described his journey, rooted in the discipline of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, as a melodious story. While his countless immortal songs continue to captivate audiences, the lesser-known struggles, thoughts, personality, and unwavering dedication behind his music are equally inspiring. Writer-director Yogesh Deshpande brings these hidden facets to life in his film Swar Gandharva Sudhir Phadke.
The movie beautifully captures Phadke’s journey with Geet Ramayana, his collaborations with legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Manik Varma, and the sensitive spirit that shaped his music. The role of Swargandharva Sudhir Phadke is portrayed by Sunil Barve, with Mrunmayee Deshpande playing his wife, Lalitabai Phadke. The supporting cast includes Adish Vaidya, Sagar Talashikar, Sukhada Khandkekar, Apoorva Modak, Milind Phatak, Sharad Ponkshe, Avinash Narkar, and Uday Sabnis.
The film is written and directed by Yogesh Deshpande and produced by Saurabh Gadgil and Yogesh Deshpande. The Marathi film Swar Gandharva Sudhir Phadke will be screened on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Devi Ahilya Vidyapeeth Auditorium, Khandwa Road, Indore. The exhibition schedule is as follows: the ‘Mama Majumdar’ group at 9:00 am, the ‘Ramubhaiya Date’ group at 11:45 am, the ‘Rahul Barpute’ group at 2:30 pm, the ‘Vasant’ group at 5:15 pm, and the ‘Bahar’ group at 8:00 pm.
