Rinku Rajguru Opens Up About Sairat’s Kissing Scene After 9 Years: “I Was Scared”
The blockbuster Marathi film Sairat, starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, took the nation by storm when it released in 2016. Praised for its powerful story, compelling performances, and unforgettable ending, the film marked a breakthrough for newcomers Rinku and Akash under the direction of Nagraj Manjule. Now, nine years later, Rinku has shared her experience behind filming one of the movie’s intimate scenes.
In a recent interview, when asked about filming the kissing scene with Akash and whether she felt scared about how her family and people would react, Rinku candidly revealed, “When I first heard about the scene, I was scared. But when Nagraj Manjule Dada told me, ‘Oh, we won’t actually do what you think,’ we ended up laughing during the shoot.”She explained that the scene’s impact came mostly from camera angles and movements, and she simply turned her head instead of fully acting out the kiss.

“Although it looked different on screen, I wasn’t afraid to do the scene. By then, Akash and I had been working together for almost four months, so there was a comfort level between us,” she added.To celebrate the film’s ninth anniversary, Sairat was re-released in theaters, allowing fans to relive the poignant love story of Archie and Parshya on the big screen once again. Rinku’s performance earned her a National Award, while the film’s soundtrack, composed by Ajay-Atul, continues to be beloved by audiences today.
