Hombale Films Enters Marathi-Hindi Cinema with Hip-Hop Musical Drama Yeto Ka Naay

Powerhouse production banner Hombale Films—the visionary force behind pan-Indian blockbusters like KGF, Kantara, and Salaar—has officially announced its very first venture into the Marathi-Hindi bilingual cinematic space. Titled Yeto Ka Naay in Marathi and YKN-Pehla Vaar in Hindi, the film is a high-octane coming-of-age musical drama set deep within the underground hip-hop subculture of Mumbai.

Marking a sharp, refreshing creative pivot for a studio primarily known for its massive, high-budget action spectacles, this project dives straight into hyper-local urban youth culture, modern relationships, and the raw pursuit of artistic identity.

The film features a brilliant alliance of acclaimed filmmakers, cutting-edge new-age writers, and regional hip-hop pioneers to ensure absolute authenticity to the genre:

Helmed by Sarang Sanjeev Sathaye, widely celebrated for his grounded storytelling and as a pioneer in the regional digital content ecosystem. The screenplay and narrative framework have been co-written by Sarang Sanjeev Sathaye, Sujay Jadhav, alongside breakout hip-hop artists Srushti Tawade and Shreyas Sagvekar, guaranteeing that the film’s lyricism and dialogues mirror actual street culture. Lensed by cinematographer Harshvir Oberai, the film features a massive, original contemporary soundtrack composed by the versatile AV Prafullachandra.

Produced under the central leadership of Vijay Kiragandur, the narrative utilizes the evolving, fiercely competitive Marathi hip-hop movement as a narrative canvas to explore universal themes of friendship, ambition, romantic turbulence, and self-discovery.

Targeting Gen Z Through High-Decibel Authentic Beats

The announcement highlights Hombale Films’ strategic desire to capture a younger, highly digital demographic by shifting away from traditional commercial melodrama to embrace gritty, modern realism.

Reflecting on this new creative chapter, Chaluve Gowda, Co-Founder & Partner at Hombale Films, shared the studio’s broader vision:

Chaluve Gowda: “At Hombale Films, we are constantly looking to tell stories that connect with all generations and reflect the evolving cultural landscape of India. Yeto Ka Naay is a fresh and contemporary narrative that speaks directly to Gen Z through the language of music, friendship, ambition, and self-expression.

Primary photography for Yeto Ka Naay is currently firing on all cylinders across real locations in Mumbai. While the producers are targeting a grand theatrical rollout for later this year, the official release dates and teaser drops are expected to be unveiled as the film enters its final wrap schedule next month.
