Ravi Jadhav has directed few highly successful films in Marathi namely Natrang, Bal Gandharva , Balak Palak and recently Time Pass. All these films received not only huge critical appreciation but were huge commercials successes as well.
Ravi was always inclined towards art and direction. Having studied from J. J. school of arts in Mumbai, he began his career as a creative director and copy writer. After working in this field for few years, Ravi turned to directing films. In all his films, a keen sense for art and creativity was visible. Natrang and Bal Gandharva were more artistic than commercial . Later Balak Palak and Time Pass were out and out commercial movies. In all these films, he handled the varied subjects efficiently and skillfully. Comic and grave subjects both have transpired on screen powerfully from the hands of this director.
Time Pass is his recent success that brought much monetary returns for the film was the highest grosser in Marathi films at that time. It collected more that 30 crores and was the first Marathi film to touch that amount. Later this year, Ritheish Deshmukh’s Lai Bhari surpassed the mark and became the highest earning film till date.
In 2012, Rithiesh Deshmukh produced and Ravi Jadhav directed Balak Palak had also attracted much attention and was a huge hit. The film dealt with the subject of sex education to children by parents. The film was also a big commercial success.
Ravi started his career with a very ambitious project “ Natrang”. The film starring Atul Kulkarni and Sonali Kulkarni in the lead was based on the story of a villager who has great liking for theatre which runs on a small scale in his village. The film also touches issues like gender bias and the social sacrifices an artist makes for his art. It earned him best director award at the Zee cine award in 2010. It received many other awards and was acclaimed by the critics.
This was followed by Bal Gandharva which also won many nominations and awards at the 59 th national awards. Subhodh Bhave played a career defining role in the film that was based on a real character.
Ravi Jadhav is presently busy with the sequel to his hit firm Time Pass that is set to release late this year. It is much awaited film with lots of expectations resting on it.
