In a series of Rabindranath Tagore’s short story being made in TV version , Radhika Apte played the classical character of Binodini a widow who is audaciously intelligent. The story of Chokher Bali which is about a widow named Binodini and her quest for love and status in society is a cult classic and a favorite among Tagore fans. The serial , Stories by Rabindranath Tagore, is directed by Anurag Basu and has become highly popular on epic channel. The TRP of the show is high and not just Tagore fans but all the masses are responding well to the show.

Chokher Bali was the first story to be shown in the series. Radhika’s portrayal of the learned and clever widow was highly artistic and true to the essence of Bengali culture. Previously Aishwarya Rai played the same character when Rutuporno Ghosh adapted the story on the silver screen. Radhika Apte , who is Marathi by birth , donned the attire of the Bengali widow of the 20th century with a blouseless sari. In the making of the show that was aired on the channel, she expressed her penchant for classical tales like that of Binodini.

Radhika said that though she was not eager to be a part of TV serials, she could not say no to the role of Binodini which was so intriguing.
