However, at that time, her marriage was already arranged, and she was preparing for a completely different life.In a recent interview, Prarthana shared the story behind her pivotal choice. “My parents believed that once I had an education and a job, I should get married. They had arranged my marriage in London. I hadn’t even met the groom. I agreed to the marriage, but then I got the offer for Pavitra Rishta,” she revealed.
Reading through the contract, Prarthana found a clause that forbade her from marrying or getting pregnant for three years. She told her mother frankly, “Mummy, I can’t get married for three years. You tell the boy ‘no.’” Though initially confused, her mother supported her after Prarthana asked, “What do you want for me? Should I pursue my career or get married and settle down?”
Prarthana admits, “If I hadn’t gotten the serial, I’d probably be living as a housewife in London today. Even if I had moved there, I would’ve managed somehow. But destiny had different plans it was meant for me to enter the world of acting and glamour.”Educated with a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and a Bharatanatyam Visharad, Prarthana continues to make headlines, most recently for her role in the film Aag Aag Sunbai Kya Kahate Sasubai.This defining choice not only shaped her career but also made her a role model for many aspiring artists balancing tradition and ambition.
