“He Took Great Care of Me During My Pregnancy”: Actress Sonali Kulkarni Shares Emotional Memories of Nana Patekar

Following the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar, actors and filmmakers across the entertainment industry have been sharing personal anecdotes and paying tribute to the late icon. Among them, acclaimed Marathi actress Sonali Kulkarni opened up about her deep bond with the actor, recalling their frequent creative debates, his love for literature and cooking, and the profound care he showed her during her pregnancy.
Having shared screen space with Nana Patekar in notable films such as Taxi No. 9211, Deool, and Dr. Prakash Baba Amte – The Real Hero, Kulkarni expressed deep shock over his demise. “I can’t believe that Nana sir is no longer with us. We used to fight all the time for petty reasons, but those controversies don’t matter now,” she shared, highlighting his passion for literature. “Whenever we met, he would have only one question for me: ‘What are you reading now?'”
Kulkarni also revealed a softer, domestic side to the formidable actor, noting his surprising penchant for television serials and cooking. Recalling a lighthearted memory from when he visited her home, she shared, “I asked him what I could make for him, and he said, ‘Make sabudana khichdi and poha.’ When I prepared it, he critically said in his trademark style, ‘This is not how I make it!’ to which I readily conceded.”
Reflecting on his compassionate nature, Kulkarni recounted how the late actor looked after her while she was expecting. “When we worked together in Deool and I was pregnant, he took great care of me. Every time he called, he would warmly inquire about my husband and daughter,” she recalled.
Concluding her tribute, Kulkarni emphasized his selfless contribution to society. “He gave a lot of love to society and never expected anything in return. I think that is something we can all learn from him.”
