“Nana Was in Good Health, But It Was Unfortunate,” Says Son Malhar Patekar

Following the cremation of veteran actor Nana Patekar with full state honours at his Donje farmhouse in Pune, his son, Malhar Patekar, spoke to the media about his father’s last days, his good health, and his grand vision for the future.

Speaking after lighting his father’s funeral pyre, Malhar shared that Nana Patekar was in good physical health and was actively planning to expand his social work. “Everything was good, and he was in great health, but unfortunately, he suffered a sudden heart attack,” Malhar said. He revealed that his father was driven to start afresh on a much larger scale, aiming to expand his philanthropic initiatives under the Naam Foundation and the Nirmala Gajanan Foundation to a Pan-India level.

According to Malhar, the veteran actor had already delegated organizational responsibilities across various teams. “We currently operate in 53 verticals extending all the way to Kashmir. He wanted to start from scratch again and take this work across the entire country,” he noted. Vowing to carry forward his father’s humanitarian legacy, Malhar appealed to the public and media for continued support in upholding the social initiatives built by the late actor.

Nana Patekar passed away at his Goa residence at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest. His mortal remains were brought to Pune as per his final wishes. The last rites were performed in the presence of prominent leaders and state dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, ministers Sunil Tatkare and Chandrakant Patil, and MP Murlidhar Mohol, alongside family members including his wife Nilakanti Patekar.
