OMG 2 Soars Past ₹130 Crore Mark in India: Akshay Kumar's Latest Blockbuster Triumph

OMG 2, also known as “Oh My God 2,” has achieved an impressive milestone in India by crossing the ₹130 crore mark in just 16 days since its release in theaters. According to a report by Sacnilk.com, the movie experienced a surge in its domestic box office collections on Saturday, raking in over ₹3 crore. This sequel to the 2012 film “OMG – Oh My God,” starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, made its debut on August 10 and features lead roles played by Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam.

Based on early estimates provided by Sacnilk.com, OMG 2 managed to accumulate ₹3.25 crore nett across all languages in India on its third Saturday in cinemas. On its third Friday, the Akshay Kumar starrer had earned approximately ₹1.7 crore. Furthermore, on Saturday, OMG 2 recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 43.97 percent.

As reported by the portal, the total earnings of OMG 2 after 16 days in theaters now stand at approximately ₹131.37 crore. The film had a modest opening of ₹10.26 crore but saw a significant increase, collecting ₹85.05 crore nett across all languages in its first week. The highest single-day earnings for OMG 2 were recorded at ₹17.1 crore on the fifth day of its release.

Directed by Amit Rai and produced by Viacom 18 Studios, Wakaoo Films, and Cape Of Good Films, OMG 2 has been a major success for Akshay Kumar. The actor, riding on the film’s success, recently arrived in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, via helicopter to begin shooting for his next project, tentatively titled “Sky Force,” though an official announcement is still pending.

In addition to “Sky Force,” Akshay has several other exciting projects in the pipeline. He is set to star in the Hindi remake of “Soorarai Pottru,” alongside Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal, scheduled for release in February 2024. Additionally, Akshay will appear in the action film “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” alongside Tiger Shroff, slated for an Eid 2024 release. He will also reunite with Riteish Deshmukh for the fifth installment of his popular comedy franchise, “Housefull.”
