Dharmendra’s Marathi Cinema Contribution Fulfilled a Promise; Vikram Gokhale Shared the Screen

Legendary actor Dharmendra passed away today, marking the end of an era in Bollywood. Renowned for his memorable performances and charismatic presence, he won the hearts of audiences over decades. Though his health had been fragile recently and rumors of his passing circulated earlier, his family confirmed those were false—until today’s sad news of his demise.

Dominating the 70s and 80s, Dharmendra was a pivotal figure who helped define Bollywood’s golden age, with numerous hit songs and iconic roles. He was nearing his 90th birthday when he left this world.While primarily known for Hindi cinema, Dharmendra also made a notable guest appearance in Marathi cinema. Film critic Dilip Thakur revealed that Dharmendra was friends with Hemant Kadam, owner of Mumbai’s Chandivali Studios.
Honoring this friendship, Dharmendra performed in a song for Kadam’s 1985 Marathi film What Went Wrong. The song, Le Tanga Sarja Nighala… Far from Dhanya’s village… Hey you run, featured Dharmendra alongside the late Vikram Gokhale. The film also starred Ranjana and Vijay Kadam.Beyond his film career, Dharmendra ventured into politics and remained active until the end.
His final film, Ikkis, is set for release soon, just a month away. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in the lead. Dharmendra shared a glimpse of the project on his social media a few days ago, leaving fans eager for one last glimpse of the cinema legend.
