Chinmay Mandlekar to Portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ranpati Shivrai Swari Agra
Directed by Digpal Lanjekar, the upcoming Marathi film Ranpati Shivrai Swari Agra will bring to life the historic chapter of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s visit to Agra—a significant and daring episode etched deeply in Maratha history. The film promises grand visuals, mesmerizing lighting, and an evocative atmosphere filled with the rhythmic beats of drums, setting the perfect stage for this epic portrayal.In a majestic scene, Shivaji Maharaj appears with his mighty warriors, adorned in rich robes, a striking giraffe plume on his helmet, a cowrie garland, and the iconic Bhavani sword at his waist, evoking awe and celebration. This visual spectacle is a highlight of the film, slated for release on January 30.
Ranpati Shivrai Swari Agra is the sixth installment in the Shivraj Ashtaka series, conceptualized by writer-director Digpal Lanjekar. While Chinmay Mandlekar previously played Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in earlier films of the series, he has stepped down from the role following controversies surrounding the name of his son. Consequently, Abhijeet Shwetchandra will now portray the legendary king in this film.The film’s soundtrack features the powerful song “Maharudra Shivaraya,” penned by Digpal Lanjekar with music composed by Avadhoot Gandhi and Mayur Raut, adding to the film’s grandeur and emotional depth.
