‘Gondhal’ Film Takes International Flight!

The much-anticipated Marathi film Gondhal, which beautifully blends traditional faith, folk art, and modernity, is set to shine on the international stage. It has been officially selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama Golden Peacock section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), hosted by the Government of India in Goa.This selection has increased excitement among audiences about Gondhal. Both Ata Thambaych Nay! and Gondhal have been officially chosen for this festival, marking the directorial debut of their respective directors.
However, Gondhal has taken a step further by securing a place in the Indian Panorama Golden Peacock Award category. Celebrated under the theme “Celebrate the Joy of Cinema,” this esteemed festival’s recognition of Gondhal is a proud moment for Marathi cinema.Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Santosh Dawarkar and presented by Dawarkar Films, the film showcases a unique confluence of deeply rooted traditions, folk art, and faith.
Set against the backdrop of the traditional Gondhal ritual performed to remove obstacles in the life of a newlywed couple, the film transcends religious ceremonies to explore human emotions, superstitions, and evolving social perspectives.With grand presentation, impactful cinematography, and technical excellence, Gondhal brings the essence of Marathi culture to global audiences. The film’s journey has now moved from the local arena to the international platform.Director Santosh Dawarkar expressed, “This is an immensely proud and joyous moment for our team.
Gondhal is a film rooted in our soil, connected to faith and traditions, and its selection at an international festival like IFFI, organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, honors the hard work of our entire team. There is no greater reward than our art being recognized globally.”Santosh Dawarkar also wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogues himself, with co-producer Diksha Dawarkar.

The film features renowned actors Kishor Kadam, Ishita Deshmukh, Yogesh Sohoni, Nishad Bhoir, Anuj Prabhu, Suresh Vishwakarma, Madhavi Juvekar, Aishwarya Shinde, Kailash Waghmare, Prabhakar Mathpati, Vitthal Kale, Praveen Dalimbkar, Sharad Jadhav, Poonam Patil, and Dhruv Thoke in lead roles.Gondhal is set to release for audiences on November 14.
