The Marathi film industry is celebrating a major international achievement as Tighi, starring Sonali Kulkarni, Bharati Achrekar, and Neha Pendse, has been selected as the Closing Night Film for the prestigious New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) 2026.
This selection marks a significant “international leap” for the film, which continues to enjoy a successful run in theaters across India. By being named the festival’s finale, Tighi joins an elite list of Marathi films including Godavari, June, Pune 52, and Raosaheb—that have made a lasting impact on the global festival circuit.
