Rahul Raj Singh Acquitted in Pratyusha Banerjee Case After 10 Years

A Mumbai court has delivered a major verdict in the death case of Balika Vadhu actress Pratyusha Banerjee, acquitting her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh of all charges after a decade-long legal battle. The Bombay High Court bench, led by Justice Shivkumar Dige, granted complete relief to Rahul, bringing an end to the trial that began following the actress’s tragic demise in 2016.
The court’s decision hinged primarily on key evidence presented by Rahul’s legal team, led by senior advocates Abad Ponda and Shreyansh Mithare. Central to the defense was the transcript of the final phone conversation between Pratyusha and Rahul just before she took the extreme step at her rented apartment in Goregaon. The call recording revealed that Pratyusha was in a highly distressed mental state, while Rahul was heard pleading with her not to take any drastic steps and assuring her that he was on his way home.
Furthermore, during the call, the actress expressed deep frustration over her personal circumstances and blamed multiple individuals, including her parents, for her situation. The defense successfully challenged the police FIR by pointing to these last call recordings, which demonstrated that Rahul was actively trying to intervene rather than abetting her distress.
Pratyusha Banerjee, who gained widespread fame for her role as Anandi and later appeared on Bigg Boss, had stunned the entertainment industry and her fans with her sudden passing. At the time, her final social media status reading, “Marke bhi mahi tujhse muh na modana…”, added to the public grief and controversy surrounding the tragedy. With the court accepting the audio evidence and defense arguments, Rahul Raj Singh has officially been cleared of all criminal allegations tied to the case.
