The latest Marathi comedy, Navra Maza Navsacha 2, directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar, is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Featuring Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Ashok Saraf, Hemal Ingle, and Swapnil Joshi in lead roles, the film has had a fantastic start and continued its success through the first Monday.
The movie debuted on National Cinema Day, collecting an impressive ₹1.85 crore. Over the weekend, the collections surged, showing a 30% increase on Saturday, with earnings reaching ₹2.40 crore. Sunday saw even better numbers, with ₹3.50 crore, bringing the film’s first-weekend total to ₹7.75 crore.
By Monday, Navra Maza Navsacha 2 added ₹1.20 crore to its earnings, despite a 35% dip from Friday. This brought the film’s total collection for the first four days to ₹8.95 crore, a remarkable feat for a Marathi film.
The movie’s success can be attributed to positive word of mouth and nostalgia, as it is a sequel to the 2005 hit Navra Maza Navsacha. It is expected to maintain strong performance through the weekdays and could cross ₹10 crore by the end of the first week.
What’s more surprising is that this regional film is outperforming some Bollywood releases. Navra Maza Navsacha 2 has surpassed Yudhra starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, both of which had a wider release. Yudhra managed only ₹8 crore in four days, while Dhvani Bhanushali’s debut film performed even worse.
