Marathi actress Priya Bapat recently shared a deeply unsettling experience from early in her career when a co-star repeatedly crossed professional boundaries during a film shoot. The actress revealed that she felt uncomfortable with a kissing scene right from the script-reading phase and continuously questioned the director about its necessity. Although she was willing to perform the scene if the plot required it, she felt it was unnecessary. However, because the director remained adamant, she ultimately agreed to film a single kissing scene.
During the actual shoot, the co-actor took advantage of the situation and began extending the intimate scene on his own by constantly kissing her. Priya admitted that she froze and could not stand up for herself at the moment because she had never faced such an incident and did not know how to handle it. The harassment quickly escalated off-camera as well, since the entire crew was staying at the same hotel. The actor began sending her continuous, inappropriate text messages, inviting her to private dinners, breakfasts, and even offering to teach her how to swim.
Feeling completely overwhelmed and frustrated by the non-stop messages, Priya decided to call her husband, actor Umesh Kamat, for help. Umesh immediately traveled to the location and stayed with her at the hotel for three days. His presence served as a clear message to the co-star that Priya was not alone, effectively forcing the actor to realize his limitations and back off. Reflecting on the incident, Priya expressed shock that the actor continued to pursue her so aggressively despite knowing that she was happily married.
