The acclaimed Marathi film Dashavatar, starring veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar, which released on September 12, 2025, to widespread success, is now poised to make history as the first Marathi movie to be dubbed in Malayalam.Retitled Dashavataram for Malayalam audiences, the film is scheduled to hit theaters in Malayalam-speaking regions on December 12, 2025—just three months after its original Marathi release.
The makers confirmed this exciting update through an official post announcing, “The divine saga awaits you, Dashavatar now in Malayalam.”Dashavatar tells the gripping story of Babuli Mestri, an aging traditional folk artist from Konkan, Maharashtra. After a personal tragedy shakes his world, he grapples with dark forces threatening his village, linked to a destructive mining project.
Combining his art and faith, Babuli embarks on a quest for justice and truth behind his son’s death, turning his final performance into a battle between good and evil.The suspense thriller features Dilip Prabhavalkar in the lead, supported by notable actors such as Mahesh Manjrekar, Siddharth Menon, Abhinay Berde, Priyadarshini Indalkar, Sunil Tawde, Ravi Kale, and Lokesh Mittal.Written and directed by Subodh Khanolkar, the film is a joint production of Ocean Film Company, Vipin Agnihotri, and Ocean Art House.
