On Tuesday, the recent crisis at Jet Airways in India deepened as the increasingly worried Indian government called for the start of an emergency meet. Meanwhile, the angry passengers have been demanding refunding with the pilots threatening to opt for strike given the salaries being unpaid for long.
Suresh Prabhu, the current Civial Aviation Minister has asked the officials to initiate a meeting that will address this issue with regards to flights being grounded, cancellations, advance bookings, refunds, and potential issues in terms of safety. Laden with a debt surpassing $1 billion, the Jet Airways is currently struggling while trying to stay in business. It has been delaying the bank payments, pilot salaries, supplier payments, and many others. Many of the investors have initiated the cancelling of lease deals concocted with Jet Airlines.
The groundings from financial issues have led to cancellation of 100s of Jet Airways flights. Some of them even got cancelled in the very last minute leaving passengers in dilemma. Some of them even took to their social media accounts to voice the issue and inconvenience caused.
Amid the issue, Jet is currently operational just with 41 aircrafts which is just 1/3rd of its original number of flights.
